How To Set Up Your First Smart Plant Label

Sunday, 6th April 2025

Getting started with Petals is simple. Just follow these steps to connect your smart plant label and begin telling your garden's story.

1. Tap the Label

Hold your smartphone near the Petals smart label - it should respond with a notification or open a webpage automatically.

💡 Most phones don't need an app for this - the label uses NFC (Near Field Communication), like contactless payment.

2. Sign In or Create an Account

To link the label to your garden, you'll need a Petals account.
• If you're new, tap 'Create Account' and follow the prompts.
• Already a user? Just tap 'Sign In' and enter your details.

3. Verify Your Email (For New Accounts)

After signing up, we'll send you an email to verify your address.
Open the email and click the link inside to confirm. Once verified, return to the Petals screen and sign in.

📬 Can't find the email? Check your junk or spam folder.

4. Claim Your Label

Once signed in, you'll be taken to a page inviting you to add the smart label to your garden.
Just tap 'Claim' - and it's yours!
Now you can name your plant, upload photos, add care notes, and begin documenting your plant's story.

Troubleshooting Tips

The label isn't responding when I tap it
Make sure your phone's NFC is turned on in settings. Not all phones have it enabled by default.

I tapped the label and saw plant details instead of the claim screen
That means the label has already been claimed by someone - either you (on another account) or someone else.

I signed in but didn't see the 'claim' button
No worries - just tap the label again with your phone and the claim option will reappear.

Once your first label is claimed, you're ready to grow your digital garden. Welcome to Petals - where every plant tells a story. 🌿
